Kielikampuksen toinen tutkijatapaaminen järjestetään perjantaina 21.2. klo 10.15-11.45 samassa paikassa (ILO 224).Tässä tapaamisessa Tommi Nieminen (Itä-Suomen yliopisto) esittelee käynnissä olevaa, Koneen säätiön rahoittamaa hanketta Suomen prosodian alueellinen ja sosiaalinen variaatio, jonka tavoitteena on kerätä osin talkoistetusti verkon kautta, osin perinteisemmin keruumenetelmin tietoa suomen prosodiasta ja sen variaatiosta. Tavoitteisiin kuuluu myös prosodian tutkimukseen sopiva puhetietokanta.

Samassa tapaamisessa Camilla Horslund (Aarhus) esittelee työtään englanniksi:

”Second Language Acquisition Across and Within Levels of Language: An Experimental Approach to the Conrad Phenomenon”

The famous British author, Joseph Conrad, whose native language was Polish, wrote English so well that he could be taken for a native speaker. His ability to speak English, however, was not quite as stunning. He gave one public speech in his life, and people walked out due to his unintelligible Polish accent. My PhD project adopts an experimental approach to this phenomenon in order to find out if Joseph Conrad was a special case or if it is common for second language learners to perform well within some areas of their second language, while struggling within other areas. In other words, my project investigates whether second language acquisition is modular or not.

Tervetuloa!
